Cross Country hits the Pinnacle Meets of the season

The Fall Athletes have been busy since August 9 officially but months before that conditioning, Some programs have finished and some are nearing crunch time as we move into late October. 

Here is the first update of the week. 

Men's and Women's Cross Country

Portage Early Bird Invitational started the season with the Women's Team finishing 10th and the Men's Team 13th. Junior Ana Dunfee was the top finisher for the Women at 20th place with a 20:47. Senior Nolan Tribu was 13th for the Men's Team with a 17:27.

 

Next up was the Adrian Invitational where the Women finished with a solid 2nd place finish. Junior Ana Dunfee was 2nd with a 21:55, Freshman Sofia Bogard was 4th at 22:10, Senior Annaliese Bol was 7th with a 22:40, and Junior Reaghan Babrick was 8th at 22:43. 

The Men's Team finished 5th with Senior Nolan Tirbu crossing the finish line in 17:55.

The Knights traveled to the Milford Invitational next where the Women finished 6th and the Men's Team finished 10th. Dunfee was again the top finisher for the Women's Team placing 18th with a 21:11. Tribu was 16th for the Men's Team with a 17:33. 

A Friday Afternoon trip to the Grand Rapids Ottawa Invitational was next for the Teams. The Women's Team was 4th and the Men's Team was 5th, Again, Dunfee had top honors for the Women's Team finishing 12th at 20:54.Tribu was the top finisher for the Men finishing 5th with a 17:05.

In the first SMAC East Jamboree of the Season, the Women's Team were the winners and the Men's Team finished 3rd. The Women's Team was led by Ana Dunfee who finished 2nd place overall with a 20:18, Freshman Sofia Bogard was 4th with a 20:35, Senior Annaliese Bol was 8th with 21:15, and Junior Reaghan Babrick was 10th with a 21:25. 

The Men's Team was 3rd with Nolan Tribu leading the way with a 4th place in 16:47.

The Knights moved on to the Jackson Invitational where the Women's Team was 13th lead by 29th by Dunfee with a 20:01. The Men's Team was 21st lead by Tribu in 15th place with a 17:15. 

Next up was the second and final SMAC East Jamboree hosted by BC Lakeview. The Men's Team was 3rd led by Tribu with a 6th Place Finish in 17:21. 

The Women's Team just missed out on 1st place and wound up 2nd. The Women's Team is Co-SMAC East Champions with Kalamazoo Central based on the results of the two Jamborees. 

In this Second Jamboree, Dunfee was 4th with a 20:45, Bogard was 6th with a 21:09, Sophomore Amelia Isackson was 9th with a 21:44, and Junior Reaghan Babrick was 10th with a 21:45.

Finally, at the Portage Invitational the Women were 26th and the Men were 34th. Dunfee lead the Women's team with a 19:57 for 54th and Tirbu lead the Men's Team with a 17:14 for 99th place.

On the Men's Team Sophomore Danny Ewing was 73rd at the Portage Early Bird with a 19:17, Junior Sam Allen was 26th at Adrian with a 19:33, he was 62nd at Milford with a 19:19, 21st at Ottawa Hills with an 18:07, 12th in the first SMAC race with a 17:38, 94th at Jackson with an 18:02, and 14th at the second SMAC race at 17:50. Junior Oskar Wiedenhoeft was 157th in Portage with a 17:51. 

The teams head to the SMAC Championship this Saturday at Linden Grove. The Women's V Race is at 10, Men's V Race is at 10:30, Women's JV at 11, Men's JV at 11:40.

The MHSAA Regional is next weekend October 29 at Portage West Middle School.
