Winter Sport Wrap Up; Men's Swimming and Diving heads to MHSAA State FInal

The Winter Season is winding down highlighted by the Men's Division 2 State Swimming and Diving Finals this weekend at EMU. 

Juniors Drew Dougherty (50 Free, 100 Fly), Joe Mitchell (Diving), and Erick Ponce Hernandez (Diving) will compete in the preliminaries on Friday beginning at Noon. The top 16 will advance to the finals that will be on Saturday at Noon. 

The team was 3-6 overall in the dual meet season. 

The Women's Bowling Team finished 3-6 overall. Junior Katie Brugh finished 10th at the MHSAA Individual Regional and qualified for the MHSAA State Finals which were held last Saturday in Allen Park. Katie finished 57th overall at the State Final. 

The Men's Bowling Team finished 5-4 on the season. 

Women's Basketball heads into the MHSAA District this evening. The Knights (3-17) will travel to Portage Central (13-4) to face the Mustangs at 7:00 P.M. The winner will advance to the Semi-Finals to face St. Joe at Portage Central on Wednesday. 

The Women's Freshman Team (4-13) and the Women's JV Team (4-15) wrapped up their seasons last week. 

The Wrestling Team finished their dual meet season with a 12-8 record. The biggest win of the season happened at the right time with a 38-33 win over Portage Central in the Semi-Finals of the MHSAA Team District. The Knights fell to Kalamazoo Central 48-16 in the final. The team will return all but three athletes next year as they continue to become a force in the area. 

The Men's Basketball season came to end last week in the MHSAA District with a loss to Gull Lake 59-47 on Wednesday. The Knights finished 8-13 overall and were 3-5 in the SMAC East. 

The JV Men's Basketball team has a nice late season win over Mattawan before concluding their season last week with a 2-17 record. 

The Freshman Men's Basketball finished with a solid 12-8 record and played very competitive basketball. 

The Competitive Cheer team wrapped up their season with a 12th place finish at the MHSAA District in Rockford on February 16. New Coach Chelsey Carpenter has established a foundation for bright future for those who are willing to commit to the hard work that is needed. 

The Women's Skiing Team finished 8th and the Men's Skiing Team 10th at the MHSAA Regional held on February 11. The teams showed signs of improvement in their league finishes in the crazy, shortened weather filled season. 

The Hockey Team ended their season with a 4-2 loss to Lowell in the MHSAA Regional Quarterfinal last Tuesday. It was 1-1 after two periods before Lowell scored three goals in the 3rd. The team had lost 7-1 to Lowell during the season. The squad finished with a 1-22-1 record with 13 players. They had only 2 lines but battled through many games out of energy in the 3rd period. With a good core returning and new Freshman, the team will rebound nicely over the next couple of seasons,
