Women’s Varsity Basketball off to Hot Start

The Women's Basketball Season kicked off on Friday. The Varsity Team pulled out a season opening 36-34 win over Hastings. In a wild last 2:30 the Knights made up a 5 point deficit and tied it at 34. Following a Knights miss in the final seconds, the Hastings bench was given a technical foul with 1.5 seconds left. Freshman Wendy Miedema calmly knocked down 2 free throws to seal the win.

 

The following afternoon the Knights traveled over to KC to face Benton Harbor. The Knights controlled the game from the start and cruised to a 51-34 win to move to 2-0 to start the season.

The Freshman team knocked off Hastings 34-26 in OT and the JV fell 44-24 to Hastings to open their seasons.

All 3 teams hit the court tomorrow at Lansing Waverly.

Freshman, JV Volleyball win titles: Varsity picks up win

Two Volleyball Titles were brought home on Saturday with the Junior Varsity battling back from an up and down morning to finish 3-0-3 and win the Three Oaks River Valley Invitational. The JV Knights enter the final week of the season with a 12-17-8 record. They will be at the Portage Northern Mini-Tournament today, host Lakeshore on Wednesday and finish the season at the SMAC JV Tournament at Portage Central on Saturday. 

The Freshman Team went 5-1 on Saturday to capture the Battle Creek Central Invitational. The Knights moved through the first portion of the tournament 4-0 heading into the finals. BC Lakeview won the first match but it was a double elimination tournament and the Knights pulled out the title match. 

The Freshman Knights improve to 20-13-6 overall. They will host Lakeshore on Wednesday, travel to the SMAC Freshman Tournament at Portage Central on Saturday, and close out the season at the Parchment Mini-Invite on 10/28. 

 

The Varsity Knights traveled to the Jonesville Pink Out Invitational on Saturday. The Knights went 1-2-2 and lost in the Silver Division Semi-Finals. The Team now stands at 3-30-7 on the season. The Varsity will host Lakeshore for Senior Night on Wednesday, before heading to the SMAC Varsity Tournament at BC Lakeview on 11/2.

Welcome to our New Head Coaches

 

As we enter the 2019-2020 School Year, please help us welcome our new Head Coaches!

Fall:

Volleyball- Karisa Finney is our new leader for Volleyball. This is her 5th year with the program. She led the Freshman for 3 years before being the Varsity Assistant last season. 

Women's Golf- Jay Peterson has taken the lead in the Women's Golf program. Jay teaches Social Studies at Loy Norrix and has been the Varsity Assistant for both the Men's and Women's Golf programs the last several years. 

Sideline Cheer- Chelsey Carpenter is the new Head Coach. She will return in the Winter for her 2nd season as the Head Competitive Cheer Coach. 

Winter:

Men's Basketball- Trey McDonald is the new Head Men's Basketball Coach. Trey was the Women's Varsity Coach last season. He is a 2011 graduate of Battle Creek Central and played basketball for Ohio State University where he graduated in 2015. Joining the staff will be Daquavion McCants-Wilson (KC-2011)as Varsity Assistant; Leo Gray, LN Class of 2009, as the JV Coach, and De'Tavia Moore (KC-2011) as the Freshman Coach. 

Women's Basketball- Kendra Logan is the new Head Women's Basketball Coach. Kendra was a solid player at Loy Norrix and graduated in 2005 in year two of a string of seven straight conference titles. She was a Varsity Assistant Coach last season so the transition should be smooth. Larry Logan, LN Class of 2003, will join the staff as a Varsity Assistant. 

Men's Swimming and Diving: Cameron Beauregard will take the lead as the Head Coach. Cameron has been working as an Assistant in the program as well as with the Kalamazoo United Swim Club. Coach Mahar will continue as the lead in the Women's program. 

Hockey: Jeff Remelius will be the Head Coach of the Kalamazoo United Hockey Program. Jeff brings knowledge and experience to the team and is well known in the hockey community. He has worked with perspective players already this summer as we look forward to a leap forward this upcoming season. 

Spring:

Women's Soccer: Scott Forrester, our Head Men's Soccer Coach, will lead the Women's program beginning this Spring. Coach Forrester is in his 2nd year as the Men's Head Coach and brings years of success and experience from his time as the Dexter High School Head Coach in both of their programs.
